My studies

My studies started long ago and far away – in my home town Samara somewhere in mid-European part of Russia. Indeed, it took me a while to figure out where I want to study – and I evaluated journalism and finance as well as math (but not law and never biology!), although I ended up on the faculty of computer science of Samara State Airspace University. My, don’t ask me how does airplane fly or why rockets are so huge – my biggest connection to this industry was – right, university name. Yes, that was fun – we coded, we partied, we sang (indeed I sang in the university choir and travelled with them a lot), we participated in some conferences with mind-boggling names, which no one can remember now and even won some prizes (which are nothing to mention, really) – and we even passed our exams, and I still remember some most horrible ones as it was just yesterday.

Six years spent there were probably most brilliant years of my life (but I’m not complaining, really), and I’ve studied there is that I don’t know anything and I’ll probably need to study for the rest of my life.

So I did – when I just started to work in Samara, changing employees every year (after all, I was just a student and was struggling to find my place in life), and afterwards when I moved to London, and finally …

And finally I realised, that I want to study a bit more. I can’t say it was a light choice – it’s time, it’s money, it’s a lot of effort, but I’ve decided that it probably worth it – so I became an MSc student at Birkbeck, University of London. An only thing I can tell right now – it’s so much more exciting to study when you know, that whatever you study is completely and immediately relevant in what are you doing at work! So, two long years are ahead but I’m very positive about it – we will see.
